Are you using the 2.4 or 2.6 series kernel?  What is the board type - ARM or 
Intel?

If it's the 2.4 kernel on TS7250 or similar, get the ftdi_sio.o module from the 
FTP site.

Check with dmesg to see if you are getting more information.

I tried this on the TS7500 board using the 2.6 kernel and there was a problem 
that the kernel had been compiled with one setting and the modules with 
another.  I can't recall the exact setting, but it was pretty obvious from the 
dmesg entry.
