I am attempting to associate to an Access point with WPA AES encryption
using a TS7800 and IOgear's GWU523 .
I used the following steps to attempt the association :
1- modified /etc/network/interfaces to include the following :
iface eth1 inet dhcp
address 192.168.1.47
netmask 255.255.0.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
wpa-ssid SSID
wpa-key-mgmgt WPA-PSK
wpa-psk passphrease
wpa-proto WPA
wpa-driver wext
2- encoded the pass phrase using wpa_passphrase and added the data to
/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
ssid="SSID"
proto=WPA
pairwise=CCMP TKIP
group=CCMP TKIP WEP104 WEP40
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
#psk="somepassword"
psk=987987as9d87a97sd9a7sd97a9sd79a8s7d89a7sd98a7ds897a98d7a89d798as
3- Issued the following command : wpa_supplicant -ieth1 -c
/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dwext
this was the result :
Trying to associate with XX:XX::XX:XX:XX (SSID='SSID' freq=2442 MHz)
ioctl[SIOCSIWFREQ]: Invalid argument
Association request to the driver failed
Authentication with XX:XX::XX:XX:XX timed out.
CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS
4- enabling debugging shows the following :
State: DISCONNECTED -> ASSOCIATING
wpa_driver_wext_set_operstate: operstate 0->0 (DORMANT)
WEXT: Operstate: linkmode=-1, operstate=5
wpa_driver_wext_associate
wpa_driver_wext_set_psk
ioctl[SIOCSIWFREQ]: Invalid argument
Association request to the driver failed
Setting authentication timeout: 5 sec 0 usec
EAPOL: External notification - EAP success=0
EAPOL: External notification - EAP fail=0
EAPOL: External notification - portControl=Auto
RTM_NEWLINK: operstate=0 ifi_flags=0x1003 ([UP])
Any idea why the association is not being completed ?
Thanks you .
