I'm using pfSense router/firewalls, which use lighttpd (www.lighttpd.net) for 
the management interface.  These are x86/FreeBSD boxes, and can have some 
pretty small memory footprints.

At the other end, lighttpd scales enough to run youtube, wikipedia, 
thepiratebay, etc.
