Hi.
I have got the TS-GSM1 with GR64 modem working fine. The only oddity is that I
don't think the modem hangs up when pppd exits.
I invoke pppd with '/usr/sbin/ppd call isp' where /etc/ppp/peers/isp contains
the following:
asyncmap a0000
crtscts
tts/0 115200
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -s -S -v -f /etc/ppp/chat/vodafone'
usepeerdns noipdefault user web
novj
defaultroute
Some people use the modem keyword but I think this is the default behaviour.
And the chat script contains ATE0V1&D2, but I am not sure if the &D2 behaviour
is supported by the GR64 modem.
The reason I don't think the modem hangs up, is if I re-run the pppd call isp
command again (after a unsuccessful connection) it fails with 'Connect script
failed'. In this case, using microcom to connect to the modem does not respond
to AT commands. Running pppd call isp a third time works.
So odd-numbered invocations succeed; odd-numbered ones fail. I tried a
disconnect script in the peers file that in turned called a chat script with
ATH, but that didn;t make a difference.
So what is the correct way of controlling the GR64 modem?
ps - I'm asking here as it is a TS-supplied modem!
Martin
