It is possible. We are using a nand-based fastboot system for the 7260. Jesse
Off at Technologics did some custom work for us to allow the 7260 to boot from
an initrd and kernel saved to nand.
We use a special version of ts-bootromupdate (sp??) to load the fastboot
bootloader code into the e2prom.
This process is not reversible, and mistakes during the process can easily
brick a unit. (We have an "unbrick" expect script which uses serialblaster,
which we have used many times.)
So right now we use a 7260 with fastboot nand configuration, load a 2.6 eabi
kernel and we're good to go. I don't recommend it to everyone, but it works
really well for us.
