The COM2 10-pin header on the board is laid out like this:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10
Where pin 1 is marked with the dot on the silkscreen.
I just verified that pin 5 is connected to GND and to pin 5 of the DB9
connector via a ribbon cable.
You might have been incorrectly counting the header pins like this:
1 | 3 | 5 | 7 | 9
2 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10
