If someone from Technologic reads this it would be great to get some
confirmation or some official word on how these two boards should be
configured to work correctly.

We've been using the BAT3 with 7800s since the 7800s were first
released. There were initially some bugs in the 7800 drivers that had
to be fixed, and we did have a batch of BAT3s where we had to make a
cut because the batteries weren't charged enough to provide initial
power to the 7XXX (must be the cut you describe), but newer boards
seem to work out of the box.

The only problem I continue to have is that the bat3 charging daemon
will shutdown unexpectedly sometimes, and whether due to this or not I
don't know, but the bat3 does not always automatically power down
correctly. We've had to incorporate a reset switch connected to J3
because of this.
