YES, fully successful, running an industrial device using it.

  1. Edit the apt-get repository list:

pico /etc/apt/sources.list
Add the following line:

deb http://www.backports.org/debian etch-backports main

  1. Update the package db

apt-get update

  1. Get the package

apt-get -t etch-backports install mono-runtime libmono-corlib2.0-cil  libmono-system2.0-cil  libmono-system-runtime2.0-cil libmono-corlib2.1-cil mono-2.0-service

  1. Manually Copy file
    "mono-service2"

    Set execute permission:

cd /usr/bin

wget http://www.greenrain.us/Root/ControllerFiles/mono-service2 --http-user=ERobishaw --http-passwd=PASSWORDHERE

chmod 755 mono-service2

  • The first time I did this I did step 3 w/o step 2, got an error, then did step 2 and step 3 following.
  • When I did this, step 3 install 1.2.1.  The 2nd time I ran step 3 it upgrade 1.2.1 to 1.9

  • I assume that if you do step 2 first, step 3 will install 1.9 right off the bat.
  • Note: got a FATAL error:  update-binfmts missing. Don't know yet how that's going to affect things!
