I have no problems running NetBSD on a TS7250. The NetBSD port is really
for the TS7200, but most of the hardware is identical and NetBSD runs fine
on the TS7250 too -- I had to patch the bootstrap code to setup all the
SDRAM on my board since I had it with the 64MB option, but it was trivial.
I've run various incarnations of NetBSD-current on it, but 4.x should
work too. I afraid I can't answer for how to get it booting from the
TS7200 NOR or CF socket; the 7250 normally boots from NAND, but tbh I
haven't even bothered to figure our how to put a NetBSD kernel in the
RedBoot FIS yet -- since I rebuild kernels frequently, I always simply
netboot a kernel built for NFS boot via TFTP from RedBoot, and have it
mount a complete NetBSD system over NFS. Very easy to set up, and works
like a charm -- so if that's an option I would recommend it.
I once held a presentation about embedded NetBSD, with the presentation
itself being run off of my TS7250 using a TS7KV FPGA Video board and my
own little display library to show the slides. Silly, but the other geeks
liked it. :-)
While Jesse was kind enough to port NetBSD to the TS72xx family, I
haven't seen many people on this list apart from myself running NetBSD on
the boards, so you may have more luck on specific questions about how to
build a kernel suitable for NOR or CF boot on the NetBSD port-arm mailing
list.
Good luck!
