Your question is a little vague...

What are you trying to use the RS-422 to communicate with?

In general, the communications ports are fine for standard serial 
communication tasks, but require a bit more work for any time critical 
communication protocol.

Which Kawasaki Robotics office are you working out of? I've worked 
quire extensively with the Wixom office on a number of automotive 
projects.

If you have more information on your application I may be able to help 
a bit more.
