I usually do it the easy way. I plug the sd card onto a desktop computer and I use gparted or qtparted to resize the partition.

I currently use the TS-7300 board with a 2GB sd card. I am using
about 26% of the part3 of the SD card. This partition is most of the
SD card. I have done this before with making a partiton bigger but
now I am trying to make it smaller again.

I take the following steps to resize smaller.

1. e2fsck to check the file system.

2. resize2fs to resize the part3 700m

3. fdisk to resize the physical partition 800m

4. reboot

5. e2fsck -- reports a bad superblock

6. resize2fs -- reports a bad superblock

7. e2fsck -b 8125 -- bad superblock

any ideas or suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
