re-mounting root works fine!

but there are more questions:

from where does the system know the subnetmask for eth0? 
my linuxrc file looks like:

...
  hostname ts7000
  ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1 up
  route add -net 127.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 lo
  ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.50 up
  #route add default gateway 192.168.0.1 eth0
  /sbin/telnetd
...


i was able to start the apache2, but how to start ftp service?
