Hopefully this is just a lame newb question -- I'm a primarily a
Windows programmer, not a Linux hardware guy ;) But, I'm ready to learn!
How does one go about building a driver for the 7800? I am simply
trying to build the linux-uvc source code to create and install the
uvcvideo.ko module file. As an experienced developer I really don't
think it should be as complicated as it seems to be.
I saw a claim somewhere the ts- binaries included with Eclipse were
built with Eclipse using the EABI crosstools. How does one do that? I
can build sample programs and my own code which work just fine. I
can't seem to get Eclipse to use the Makefile which came with the
driver source.
I tried to make the driver on the device itself after getting the
kernel source setup, etc. All I got from that was incompatibility
errors between the old ABI toolchain on the device and the EABI kernel
(ld errors). What's up with that? Can we not get an EABI compiler to
run on the device?
I would prefer to do my development in Windows via Eclipse and/or
Cygwin, but would be more than happy to be able to build on the device
itself...
Can anyone point me at some explicit steps how to go about building
a .ko file and installing it on the TS-7800? This isn't the only
driver I have to build, but it appears to be the easiest. If I can get
one figured out, the rest should be a breeze :)
Thanks,
Devon
