After lot of testing I can say, the above described problem is
connected with jfs. I was not able to repeat the error with ext2, ext3
neighter with FAT file system. With ext2, ext3 and FAT was the
application running for 6 day without any problem although with
different performance.

Unfortunately I don't have time enough now to try the jfs patch which
pointed Charlie.

I think the further use of jfs file system with 7800 and 2.6.21-ts
kernel should be considered unless the problem is fixed.
