I Would recommend the TI PCM2900 USB Audio Codec.
You can find it in the Sony UAB-260 'USB Audio Box'
Works reliably for me, the only issue is if you are recordings
stereo, sometimes L/R the channels get switched.
This does not happen with the Audio Playback.
I have some channel detection code/circuitry to work around the
record channel swapping issue.
