The explanation depends on how you initialized the serial port. A
simple test for verifying initialization of the serial port for
receiving binary data is to use the stty command and cat.

stty -F /dev/name_of_serial_device_for_port_6 9600 raw


cat </dev/name_of_serial_device_for_port_6 >binaryfile.bin
