This did the trick. It appears I had a broken toolchain. I upgraded my
toolchain to arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc (GCC) 4.2.4 (Debian 4.2.4-2) and
the sd block driver works in RM_NOQUEUE request mode.
arm-none-linux-gnueabi-gcc (GCC) 3.4.4 (release) (CodeSourcery ARM
2005q3-2) seems to also work.

I'm going to try to get the other request modes working. There are not
that many changes in 2.6.25 blkdev.h but for some reason I get a NULL
pointer reference when using RM_FULL or RM_SIMPLE.
