Thanks, however a kernel module would be much easier. It's pretty tough to do this in java without it.

There is no kernel module; this unit is programmed from user-space. For 
the TS-72xx b ased board, sample code is here:

For the TS-7800 the sample code is here:
ftp://ftp.embeddedARM.com/ts-arm-sbc/ts-7800-linux/samples/tolcd.c

There are also binaries available under arm-binaries of the respective 
directories.
