I don't know in what environment you tried running it, but 
executables are by default dynamically linked and relevant libraries 
are missing. Try compiling the program with the "-static" flag - it 
must run that way.
If you want to link it dynamically, you need to copy the required 
libraries: on your PC run on your dynamically linked 
program "<prefix>-objdump -x <program> | grep NEEDED". Copy the 
listed files to /lib on your board (or anywhere else and adjust 
LD_LIBRARY_PATH). Furthermore, you must copy the dynamic linker, that 
is the library ld-linux.so.3 (or something like that) from your cross 
toolchain to /lib on the board. The "no such file or directory" error 
actually meant the dynamic linker could not be found.
