Well, or 3) find an old-abi cross-toolchain, of course. I think the
emdebian.org project concentrates on a comprehensive set of
cross-compilers for debian systems.
Unless your application does a lot of floating point math, the speed
you obtain should be about the same, and old-ABI Debian arm is more
stable and complete than the unstable Debian armel one.
