Personally speaking,

I found really usefull cross compiling my applications.

I started compiling my application directly on the board, but compile
times were increasing. Then I decided to try the cross compile
option. It wasn't too easy to setup but it really worth it. I haven't
tested times but I think it can be 5 times faster. I have even cross-
compiled applications with bluetooth, ADC, multithreaded with success.

Having NFS running will speed your development process. I have setup
my make file so the exe file is stored in the shared NFS folder, the
inmediately I am able to run it.
