The default config file for 2.6 kernel and TS-72xx supplied by TS does not enable the SD Card option. Use:
# make ts72xx_defconfig

Some proprietary files are necessary to compile the SD driver.
Instead, a 2.6 SD Card driver binary for TS-72xx can be download at:
ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/ts-arm-linux-cd/binaries/ts-modules/tssdcard.ko
