Hi Pete,
Thank you for the link to nano-x. Looks very feasible - depending on
easy the port may be to the 7300 toolchain/cpu. I note it uses
standard framebuffer drivers so it all looks good to me.
I found allegro the other day at http://alleg.sourceforge.net/ which
is designed more for gaming, but has a very capable GUI/Dialog
sub-system. The screen shots are more dated than nano-x.
For full blown X, I assumed a hard disk may be required, not sure there.
Allegro is pre-ported to many more systems and I was quickly able to
compile the demo programs on Mac OSX.
I will spend a couple of hours with nano-x and see how I get on with
it under Darwin.
I note you coded a home brew GUI!!, great stuff, did you use threads
with home brew events manager, or an RTOS underneath.? Would be
interested to see some screen shots.
My main reason for posting here was to find out what other people do
or perhaps what Technologic recommend or use themselves.
Unlike yourself I unfortunately don't have the time or inclination to
re-invent things, despite how interesting. I can see the 7300 learning
curve will be steep enough anyway.
Cu
