A little update: it seems like something was broken.  I did the setup
again and we get "something":
* we putted diagnostic LEDs between pin1 and pin6.
* we can send from the TS to the blackbox but get garbage at the end.
* when trying to read (cat /dev/tts/3) one of the LEDs stays up.  It
also happens with opening the device without sending (cat /dev/tts/3) 
* We can't send from blackbox to TS

Any suggestion what we missed?
