Looks like the problem was only with empty passwords...
I added a known password to both root and my login in /etc/passwd and
now I can login.
sshd wasn't running because /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key
/etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key were missing...
I generated new keys and now ssh is working too.
