Thanks for the tips Triffid. I have revised my code to the format that you have suggested. I can see that the system that you suggest is less complex and should be less prone to system memory glitches. I certainly did not think about the option of making a 1D array behave as a 2D array by using a block multiplier. I am now in the process of testing the revised code.
