It should work assuming you load the 8MB initrd at the begining of an
8MB contiguous chunk of RAM that is not being used by the kernel.

Readability, in my opinion 0x0080_0000 is easier to read than 0x00800000.
The notation doesn't imply anything, so if you see one notation is used
in some parts of the manual but no others it just an inconsistency.

Yes, if you have a 32MB SDRAM chip there are four 8MB contiguos chunks
of memory at 0x0, 0x100_0000, 0x400_0000, 0x500_0000.
FYI the kernel resides at 0x21_8000.
