Hi all,

I'm in the process of setting up a build environment
for a TS-7300. I've rebuilt the kernel and modules
under both Cygwin and Linux (a 2.6 system), and
in both systems make modules_installs fails to
find depmod (Cygwin) or depmod.old (Linux 2.6).

A little Googling shows the tool comes from the
module-init-tools or modutils packages.

However, I note that in the case of a Linux
install, depmod.old gets created when you upgrade
your tools by copying the current depmod to depmod.old
and installing the new tool as depmod ... however, I
want to *downgrade*, not upgrade, i.e., I want
depmod.old to be the Linux 2.4 version of depmod, on
a 2.6 based system.

I was wondering if anyone has any words-of-wisdom
on this, eg. build modutils with a different install
prefix, and then build and install, and copy the
generated depmod to /sbin/depmod.old?

I'll post my solution when I've had time to figure it
out. But if anyone has already gone down this road,
it'd be interesting to hear your solution.

BTW, I can build an external module and insmod it
into the running ts11 kernel, so I have succeeded
in setting up the tools and kernel build environment.
Its just the re-building of the kernel step that
I have to go.

Cheers,
Dave
