I have not worked with a GSM modem, but done some work on several CDMA modems. I image it would be similar. What you have to do is first look into any modem parameters you might need to change. You can do that with AT commands from the manual. The defaults are probably OK to start with, and you'll only get into that to tweek after getting familiar with it.. To establish a connection, you should have some sort of fake dial command. With CDMA it's something like: ATD#777 Check to see what you need to dial for your ISP - something that you might be able to find via google. If you don't have success, there is probably an AT command to tell you signal strength, channel assignment, etc to determine if you have coverage and an antenna sufficient to get a good connection. After you get a CONNECT message after dialing, you'll need to fire up ppp on your TS board. ppp has literally dozens of options. Again, you may be able to find a starting point via google. You'll need a couple scripts for ppp. One will be the script that has ppp's options - typically ppp.options. Another will be a chat script (if you want the dialing to be automated later) In order to make the connection accessible as a regular network connection to the system, you'll need to also make a ifcfg-ppp0 script similar to ifcfg-eth0 This will allow the networking code to recognize the connection and create a link with an ip, etc. Good luck - contact me offline if you want - m("bellsouth.net","leaton10");"> Larry BillBergeron wrote:
