Read the messages posted by Breton (m("ntlworld.com","breton.saunders");">), I mostly created my python install using his tips. Works great.

The nice thing is that you can create small bits doing the "dirty" work in C and use python to glue it all together. At least, that's what I read, haven't had the need for low-level c stuff just yet.
