[ts-7000] TS-BAT3 drivers on ts9?

Hello all,
I'm running a TS-7260 with an older kernel (ts9). I would like to use
at TS-BAT3 battery backup board, but the libraries available off the
website require kernel release ts11 to work. Is it possible to
recompile the drivers to work on ts9, or do I need to upgrade to ts11?
if it is possible, which is easier? I'm a noob to this system and
don't have that much linux experience, so I would need a point in the
right direction with either method.
