The TS7300 use a special physical distribution on the SD card. I can't find a good guide to build it from scratch but i'll left the info i collect, if anyone from embeddedarm want to left more info or correct me, please do it.

Disk distribution:
partition 1: kernel image (fixed partition size) (check Yan's link bellow)
partition 2: initrd (? fixed partition size) (check Yan's link bellow)
partition 3: debian system (variable size)

To dd the original disk image from embeddedarm follow: http://www.embeddedarm.com/epc/fastboot.htm
If your disk is more than 256 M continue with instructions from Yan http://www.seiner.com/ts7000/index.php/Copying%20Boot%20SDCard
If you want to modify the kernel image from partition 1 follow first part of:  http://www.lino.cl/ts7300/kdrive_and_gtk_1.0.xhtml

THE FOLLOWING INFO IS ONLY A SPEC:
Now you can untar the debian-sarge-256MB-05-01-2006.tar.bz2 to the partition 3, but you must copy also the /lib/modules files created on the kernel compilation... That's all.

Good luck,
Alvaro

Hi,

I've got a problem about SD booting too.

I can't create a bootable SD card from scracth. But I can copy the
existing card with dd command
(http://www.seiner.com/ts7000/index.php/Copying%20Boot%20SDCard)
After dd copying I can boot the 7300 without a problem.

Here is what I did.
I followed the guidelenes in "linux for arm" guide.
1. Copied the debian-sarge-256MB-05-01-2006.tar.bz2 file from the
TSARM CD to my Linux PC.
2. Plugged a new kingston 256MB SD card to pretec USB sd card dongle.
3. Plugged the dongle to my linux PC :)
4. fdisk /dev/sda ( The path in the guide doesnt work. I dont have a
file or node as /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc)
5. Did exactly what is written in the guide to create only ONE
partition with fdisk.
6. mkfs.ext2 /dev/sda1
7. mount /dev/sda1 /usbDisk
8. tar -C /usbDisk -xvjf debian-sarge-256MB-05-01-2006.tar.bz2
9. fsck /dev/sda1
10. umount /usbDisk

then I replace this new disc with the original one. But it didnt boot.
Only
"TS-SDBOOT
.
.
.
TS-SDBOOT
.
.
.
"
messages.
I did check the slot! It is the one closer to the CPU!

When I check the original SD card with my usb dongle I noticed there
are three partitions. But after I create the SD from scratch I have
only one partition.

What is wrong?
How can I produce my own sd card image from scratch?

Best regards,
Oguz.
