:-) I suppose you've just learnt an important lesson - commiserations.
For future reference, when testing kernels, I've found loading the kernel
via redboot via TFTP to be useful. That way when things go wrong, the
onboard kernel is still there. On the TS7200 you can also put a kernel on
a CFDISK and load that from redboot, again leaving the safety net of the
"inbuilt" kernel being untouched. And then when you have to overwrite
something, back up the original!

There are linux kernel images for what I assume are the latest
installed release kernels.
