Hi, Jack. Just edit your /etc/inittab file and replace:

xxxx:xxxx:respawn:/sbin/getty -L 115200 ttyAM0

for

xxxx:xxxx:respawn:/bin/ash -c "exec /bin/ash </dev/ttyAM0 >/dev/
ttyAM0 2>&1"

You will probably have to add some flag before the '<' symbols to 
make it work right (perhaps -i). I don't have my board here to test 
with.

Note: xxxx is a placeholder; your inittab file will probably have 
different strings.
