Francis,

I think u need a Analog to Digital(ADC) for ur
application.

As u said u need to record temp. it is quite obvious
that u use a ADC. 

I worked with MAX197 ADC installed on TS-7250
board.

No ideas if TS-7000 has got any ADC chip installed on
it.

And there is no need to write Parallel port drivers.
(In case u need to write , plz dont try reinventing
the wheel)

Since ur can interface the ADC thru the gpios
available on the board. And its easy stuff to program
the gpios. Its just a matter of register programming.
