Connecting the TS-9420
----------------------
Ensure the mounting holes on the TS-9420 lineup with the mounting holes
on the TS-7xxx. That is if the TS-9420 is aligned properly one should
be able to use standoffs to mount the TS-9420 to the TS-7xxx.
DIP Switches
------------
SW1 = Boot from 9420
SW2 = ARM Mode
SW3 = Write Enable Flash
Partions on the TS-9420
-----------------------
The TS-9420 consists of three partitions, these partitions are the same
as the TS-7xxx. The first partition /dev/mtdblock/n contains the bootrom,
the second partition /dev/mtdblock/n+1 contains the linux filesystem, and
the third parition /dev/mtdblock/n+2 contains redboot and the kernel. If
a TS-9420 board is used with a TS-7xxx the first three partition will
correspond to the boot board, and the second three partitions will
correspond to the other board. For instance if DIP switch 1 is down(ON) on
the TS-9420 and the TS-9420 is plugged into a TS-7xxx. Then the following
describes /dev/mtdblock/n.
/dev/mtdblock/0 -- TS-9420 bootrom
/dev/mtdblock/1 -- TS-9420 Linux filesystem
/dev/mtdblock/2 -- TS-9420 redboot
/dev/mtdblock/3 -- TS-7xxx bootrom
/dev/mtdblock/4 -- TS-7xxx Linux filesystem
/dev/mtdblock/5 -- TS-7xxx redboot
Creating/Writing images
-----------------------
The onboard flash chip on the TS-9420 is 8MB so it is recomended that
one boots to an NFS share so there is enough space to store any images.
Refer to the TS-ARM Developers manual

to boot to an NFS share.
On our ftp site there is an images directory
(ftp://oz.embeddedarm.com/images/). Each subdirectory contains 4 files
named
* ts7200-16-default
* ts7200-8-default,
* ts7250-128-default
* ts7250-32-default
These are symbolic links to the current shipping image. The naming
convention is board-flashsize-default...
You can use the dd command to read/write these images with the
exception of the linux filesystem on the TS-7250. The TS-7250 doesn't
use images due to the fact that the filesystem stores meta-data regarding
bad blocks and ECC checks. Instead one must erase the filesystem then
write the files, the filesystem will discover bad blocks and write ECC
inforamtion an needed. Refer to the wiki for information on how to
accomplish this.
