Actually this is an issue with old versions of ntpdate. The version in
sarge works fine no matter the date difference is (at least it works
for me).
Did you try to run ntpdate by hand or using the initscript? Supposing
that you are using the Debian sarge image I've uploaded to TS some
weeks ago, the ntpdate initscript is configured to use
"ntp.pop-rs.rnp.br" as the ntp server (this is in
/etc/default/ntpdate). If you are using the initscript, there's a
chance you are having trouble acessing this server.
