I measured the throughput using the ttcp test program,
and, on a 166M board (an early one), I measured

  aprox 90M max transmitting or receiving UDP packets
  aprox 45M max TCP throughput

It could be that tweaking some of the TCP parameters could get a better
single stream TCP performance. Of course nothing else was running on the
board.

Interestingly when I clocked the board at only 42M (with the mem clock
also 42M) these figures halved.

A recent board with a sdef clock of 200M should be able to fill a 100M
ethernet pipe.
