I just ran into this myself attempting to compile in an embedded
database. Is there some specific reason that these libraries are so
different? Has an upgrade path been tested?
I am just curious.
In an embedded scenario, shared linking is generally better (that is
if the shared libraries are actually shared between diffent programs
on the system, in which case they are just helpful in keeping the
flash footprint down).
