The jumpers settings will determine on which COM port your redboot
messages are sent. Once in redboot your exec script will determine where
you Linux boot messages are sent. Once Linux is booted your /etc/inittab
will determine where your login prompts are available.

As far as not being able to send data to COM2 this is very strange what
cable are you using? What is the pinout? There has been some controversy
over the pinout diagram in the manual for COM2...
