I've made further tests with the "trace" option set to 127 (ie: all
kind of trace/debug info).
I don't see any error message when webcam freezes. I'm currently
trying to set other parameter to better understand where the problem
could come from...

I've got "ehci_hcd" and "ohci_hcd" listed by /sbin/lsmod but I see
that the webcam uses the  "ohci_hcd"

I'll follow your recommandation and borrow an USB switch to perform the test.
