As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a sizable amount of research
software that uses a variety of cameras with the Saillard pwc driver. It seems
that newer Logitech cameras are supported by the UVC driver instead of the
pwc driver. But the UVC driver only supports V4L2, not V4L. I notice that
there is a V4L2 version of the Saillard pwc driver on the pwc driver website
snapshot page. All of my software is based on V4L. I am contemplating a rewrite
to V4L2. This will allow me to use the same version of my software with both
the old and new cameras. Since this is a major undertaking, I have several
questions before I start.
1. How stable is the V4L2 pwc driver?
2. Does it run under amd64?
3. Does the V4L2 pwc driver support the full functionality of the V4L pwc
driver? Including pwc-specific stuff like Orbit/Sphere pan/tilt? If not,
what is missing?
Thanks in advance,
