[pwc] webcam Philips 675 detected but not working

Hi all, my webcam Philips 675 doesn't want to work... Pwc module (ver. 10.0.11) 
is loaded,I've tried several programs like ekiga, gqcam, camstream, vlc but I 
only get a grey rectangle :-((
Only with xawtv I'm able to get the webcamera to work but in a weird way: I 
have to add a channel in the Channel Editor and then open the Channel Window: 
selecting the channel just added I get the image from the webcam

short on ideas ....
