Yes - I've done make cleans

What exactly is the difference between a smp kernel and a non-smp kernel? Perhaps this is killing the duck.

I might just try and boot the non-smp kernel and try the make against that one - perhaps the 'pwc: disagrees about version of symbol struct_module' problem will disappear

I'm kinda stumped at this point.  Did you do a 'make clean' before
building the module again?

While, this shouldn't matter, maybe you could uninstall all the kernel
RPMs you listed below except for the one you'r erunning?

The only difference between my system and yours is that mine isn't
SMP, so i'm not using the SMP kernel.  But other than that, i can't
see any difference.
