Have you these errors after applying severall pan, or just for the first
time ? Perhaps, the webcam can't return to the middle point, and drift from
initial value. Can you use the sysfs interface ? using /sys/..../pan
Else modify in pwc-if.c, some constants

                pdev->angle_range.pan_min  = -7000;
                pdev->angle_range.pan_max  =  7000;
                pdev->angle_range.tilt_min = -3000;
                pdev->angle_range.tilt_max =  2500;
