Thanks Dan. Those products look interesting, but too pricey for a one-off
project with no funding except my wallet. I found an eight D-cell holder
with tabs to solder leads to connect the inverter for $5.00 each.
Everything can be reinforced and wrapped in sealed and vented plastic cases
for overnight use.
