Hello all
I am new to the list.
I have had some recent experience with the Primo EM172 capsules through the=
ultrasonic frequencies having pushed them up to the upper limits of my cur=
rent recorders (Zoom H1 and Olympus LS7).
I have picked up some bat calls around 40 kHz as you can see at this Soundc=
loud link of the friend Marco Pesente:

I=92ll test the EM172 up to 50 kHz as soon as I get a chance.. The source w=
ill be a Peerless XT25SC90 tweeter, which has a nominally flat response up =
to 40 kHz.

I thought the EM-172s also went well above spec. Maybe 30kHz? Can anyone co=
nfirm that? I recall someone saying they had recorded microbats with their =
M10's built in mics, which are EM-172s.
For a test source, are there no microbats at all where you are? They're a b=
it sparse where I live (suburb in Melbourne, Australia), but if I record al=
l night, I generally capture at least one pass in summer, one a week in win=
ter.
I tried using a computer to play a test tone to calibrate my bat detector, =
but was defeated by the inbuilt 20kHz filtering. I ended up using my Sony P=
CM-M10, which can play 96kHz sample rate wav files. I think I was able to g=
et 40kHz out of it, using the built in speaker. Perhaps your recorder can d=
o better?
