I have been using RØDE Rec for a number of years now. I have been having great 
success. However, I have missed some recordings because of the lag time when 
booting the app. 

I noticed that the stock iOS app can use 3D Touch to start the recording. This 
is something that I have contacted RØDE tech support about offering but they 
have yet to push an update with that functionality. 

I have also be disappointed with RØDE’s file naming convention—it doesn’t sort 
properly. And it doesn’t record location metadata. 

So I am reaching out to this group if there are other products on the market 
that I should look at.
