Hi Marco, thanks for briefing!
I read that it looses all preset configurations like date and time when
replacing the battery.
Doesn that mean that it looses "lineIN / MICin" and "PlugInPower" and
"limiter on/off" presets too?
At pictures, I can´t find switches for these functions.

Hi Klas,
in my opinion, an important new feature, compared to the previous H1, is the 2
sec of Pre Rec.

I have never seen the importance of pre record. When I record with a
parabol, I switch the recorder on when I leave the house and switch it
off when I get back home.
What about the pre settings when replacing the batteries?

2. Seeking PiP Preamp Recommendations / also interesting ECM Mic for DI

Hi all -
some colleagues and I are designing and implementing an outdoor recording
system for an art project. Battery + solar operated in a project box, low
power etc. It’ll be mounted in a tree for a year, eventually.
It’s “nature recording” if human beings are considered nature. i.e. long
term, environmental sampling. Not recording constantly. Eventually, there
will be plenty to share about this project.
Of note to this community: I did some new research into electret capsules.
I initially spec’d the Primo EM173 mics, but did a little further research
to see if there were any waterproof options and there are! Shared below.
Thought this might interest the list, and I wonder if anyone has any
experience with any of these.
Notably: there are some new mics from PUI with impressive looking specs,
see the link for item #4 below.
I’m also working out some design ideas for rain and wind protection for
extended outdoor deployment.
Also seeking mic preamp for this… we will record to a Raspberry Pi style
computer using a USB class compliant interface in the box, (a Behringer
UCA222) it operates at line level. So we need to amplify.
Anyone Know of anything trustworty off the shelf that’s low noise,
reasonably high gain, and powers Electret mics? Something equivalent to
what’s inside most good pocket recorders would be perfect.
Alternately: Our colleague can build a circuit if we give him a schematic
and a parts list… but off the shelf is attractive.
I did see a design from “the sound professionals”
https://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-PREAMP-20
Thanks for any input or knowledge here.

1) Primo EM172
Low Noise
High Sensitivity
I’ve personally worked with them a bunch with great results.
2) CUI model cmc-9745-130t
- IP67 rated (very high degree of dust and water resistance)
- May have less bass response… listed as 100hz low frequency, but need to
check actual output.
- I like the fact the product sheet includes frequency response chart.

3) PUI model AOW-4544P-C3310-B-R
This is the only other IP rated mic line I found, and is IP57.
I’m less confident in this pick as there are no frequency response
characteristics listed.

4) PUI model AOM-5024L-HD-R
Another low noise mic, a new design 2017, very similar specs to Primo.
great looking frequency characteristics, and noise.
Looks very promising, per specs.
