OK, I've answered my own question, but thought I'd post for the benefit of =
others. I connected the two together using the cord supplied with the ipod =
touch and the adapter supplied with the LS-100. I got a message on the ipod=
 asking to allow the LS-100, and then within thirty seconds a message on th=
e LS-100 saying battery was low; and this was with the LS-100 holding a ful=
l charge! It had almost completely discharged the LS-100. So, I'm at this m=
oment going through the long process of re-charging my LS-100 and looking a=
t my options.
